The Marchetti emergency extension cable is 5m long and is able to extend non-extendable cables. The male quick connector of the non-extendable cable is extended with the female quick connector of the emergency cable.
The emergency extension cable provides pneumatic and electric continuity to its quick male connector to be plugged into the Control Unit or Add-on Acquisition Unit.
Important Note: A Marchetti male-female quick connector joint is not isolated from the body of its connectors. If the joint is grounded (water, contact with rods, etc), the DMT will not work.
This cable is generally used only at ground surface, to perform a few additional meters of tests after a non extendable cable has reached its length. However this extension cable is “somewhat” dangerous, as it may ground the DMT signal and cause malfunction and damage.
